Has anyone ever kayaked from Palm Beach to Grand Bahama?
Or Miami to Bimini, for that matter. I was thinking that if you had calm seas and a bit of west wind (fairly rare) you could make Palm Beach to West End, Grand Bahama in 24-36 hours.
You can, but you’d probably get stopped by the Florida Coast Guards or Bahamas Defense Force if spotted, and without proper documentation (passport, visa, etc) you will be detained as an illegal refugee. This route was (and quite possibly still is) a common one for drug dealers, used to smuggle illegal drugs and arms to and from Freeport by speed boat, so its a hot zone for law enforcement.
