History of Harley Davidson
When it comes to motorcycles, Harley-Davidson is the gold standard. This is the fee for this industry in two motor bikes. But its importance and its position on top was not achieved overnight. It took a lot of work and patience to reach the position in the industry, they are now. And it took decades to earn respect for consumers and friends in the industry.
Harley-Davidson Motor Company based in Wisconsin. With Victory Motors is one of two other mass producers of motorcycles in the U.S.. But this is different Harley motorcycle others are manufactured and its design is sound, which has a way overnight sensation back. Although the district security guards and people who enjoy a nice evening and still will not agree, the sheer volume of noise from a Harley is what consumers love about it.
The company started in 1903 when an enterprising 21 year old man was dreaming on a small engine that will eventually replace the flying cubes 7.07 and four inches. Its small size is really intended to be placed in a normal bike to do it faster.
For two years, William Harley and Arthur Davidson, his friend worked on the idea. With help from his brother, Arthur Wallace, completed their first prototype but when tested, they found it was not strong enough to be used in climbing hills without pedal assistance. So they worked on again and made some adjustments and improvements.
The prototype of the next has a bigger engine. This time, 24.74 with about 10 inches wheels. As part of the loop is actually very similar to the first real Harley. Creation of the model was a joint effort with three outboard motor pioneer Ole Evinrude.
In 1904, realized the prototype and got in a motorcycle race and in 1905 they introduced the engine on the market thanks to an agreement within yourself. This year more than a dozen Harley-Davidson motorcycles were made.
With big dreams, Harley Davidson and built their first factory on Chestnut Street, which will then Juneeau Avenue, where a special tribute to Harley-Davidson is now. The first plant was not so great and it was made of wood. Yet he managed to produce about 50 bikes this year alone.
When William graduated from the University Wisconsin with a degree in mechanics, He used his knowledge to grow the business. In 1907 they expanded their factory and began producing about 150 units. They have even started selling wholesale to the police and other public bodies. In September the same year a company was incorporated.
It was also in 1907, when a second prototype was built. This time, double cylinders engine called V-Twin. This model offers 7 horsepower, a doubling of force, especially in climbing. Speed was also increased to around 60 km / h. The model was an instant hit, putting their production to about 450 motorcycles in 1908 and 1200 to great in 1909. In 1911, a valve admission control mechanism has been introduced into the engine. Although the engine is actually smaller, the engine has a better performance.
In 1913, the company has grown, prompting the owners to build a new factory with 5 floors of the structure already built. In 1914, the company leading the competition in the manufacture of motorcycles ii world.
