Kayak Paddling Pants

The dangers of kayaking night | A true story
A friend who works here and I plan to hit the river after work, and with our kayaks our respective cars, we turned up ready for work later. The planning has been sporadic and have not been well thought through. The rain had made the river very quickly and desirable, and we were happy to go out and test our abilities. We did not waste too much time to prepare, there was a raging river, waiting for us!
The water was very cold on the time at which it had fallen and had been raining heavily in the days before the trip. Although water levels were higher in the first half of the trip went well, our kayaks we was successful and a good time for our final destination. This is when the sun began to fall and the reality of the situation described in that we still had at least one mile or two to go in our trip, and it seemed that our light was rapidly fading.

Kayak through the beautiful river
Initially, it was not bad, with aligned eyes and a calm state of mind, I led us through and even though we made some wrong turns on the fork in the river and had to paddle back upriver, we seemed to be on time. Being what I consider middle practiced we kept our bearings, but still has a slight degree of difficulty to log on to the river and other obstacles we could not see because of darkness. We had not been wet or to finish, so that all still worked fine. We knew that our point out on the deck rapidly increasing, then what else could go wrong?
Well, darkness was believed to come only regulate more paddling. Like a switch off all light except that of the moon that we would be lucky to be out of the shadows a few moments where we could see little. It was felt the most intense and frightening som den aktuelle tog os i den mørkeste dele ukendte dybder River. We stayed the course, even if the ice jam and countless hurdles we had to make split-second maneuvers around us is full. We were tired and on edge, but we kept each other in conversation and thoughts are with the uprising "we must be near away" or "just one in the next turn, we find our place of arrival "was the only thing that kept us a bit quiet in the dark river.
As we came to a bend in the river, we put mark for a bridge to the future, not our starting point, but it was an inspiring place … until we paddled on the deck and noticed our kayaks with us on the inside will could not pass under this bridge, now what? Well, we tried to Portage around the first page, it was a no go because the water level was so high that we could not find dry soil to come out of nowhere, so we do not want to go too far from the river in the dark. As we pondered our next move, and the memory of water was probably in the mid 50's as it seems at the time we made a decision.

Decent light to total darkness
It was decided to jump out of our kayaks and swim under the bridge on the other hand, fair enough, we get soaked, but we must make progress. As we both jumped into the icy water, wearing long pants and a jacket, the reality of the situation sunk and our bodies frozen. Gaining our bearings we swam the bride and on the other side with our kayaks in tow. Now all watery, we have gained access back in the cockpit of our kayaks and continued to our destination, provided more than ever to find dry land and safe.
Approximately 45-90 minutes before the incident of the bridge, we met our exit points, and Black must have seemed like a bunch of fools pull up the river and comes out all wet. At this point we broke very little what others thought, but broke a lot more just to be safe and dry on flat terrain. They say you learn from your biggest mistakes and kayaking is no different, we realize how lucky we were to get out unharmed and safe in the end and certainly took what to do differently ii future.
In planning a kayak trip, make sure sufficient time to reach your destination surely if you've never seen paddling a river in the dark in a kayak, it is a warning to jaunting a pleasure and a relatively calm. Paddling at night is hard and can be very dangerous if left unaddressed. We had not packed flashlights, floodlights or any source of light and he ended up making things very difficult. Consider the level of the river as a River High River is a fun but also a dangerous river.
The next trip we took we had left much earlier to do in the light of day, making things much smaller stressful and more fun. We hope that this terrible time can help at least one tube colleagues are thinking twice about the plan for a river kayak, we've certainly learned our fair share here. Until we go over the river, the day we see you on the water.
