Kayak Roof Rack Carrier
roof kayak carrier recommendations?
We just bought a kayak from one parent and the need to buy a kayak carrier to the top of the gallery car roof. I have a Ford Focus station wagon with standard factory-installed roof rack. The kayak is 9.5 meters long recreational sit-in kayak. There seems to have a variety of media types for kayaks, and I was wondering if anyone has a particular type or brand they like? Thank you.
The cheapest solution is one of the kits, you can get for around $ 30 at most sporting goods stores. He has a pair of foam blocks gray disk with a groove in the bottom that slides over your roof rack and a curved top to rest on the hull. There are a few Long nylon straps around the boat and rack to hold more than one pair of adjustable straps or ropes with hooks on the ends – the ends of straps to transport your kayak, then set car in front and rear to keep the boat from turning in the wind at high speeds. By the end than I (and love) carriers Thule J-bar (they list for $ 140, but I got mine on sale for $ 99). They look like two large slanted letter "J" s with upholstered cushions, which easily clips on the rack (I have Thule square grid, but I think the simple adjustable clamp on the J-bars would go on a roof rack bar, perhaps with a small piece of rubber wrapped around if the bar was very thin. The straps that comes with the installation of Thule is really nice and quick to install, so the rack, it's really very simple for a dependent of the boat. Since my sea kayak is 15 'long, I prefer amateur rack, but I think the airlines will operate foam very well for you. I always have my old foam and use it for a friend's boat on the other side of my door, when we want to paddle together.
